Good coaches realize that there is more to coaching than just the X’s and O’s or the latest training methodologies. Relationships with your athletes and how you personally manage your own body and mindset are huge factors in positive, productive coaching. If you do not follow Brett Bartholomew, you really should. This line, “there is nothing more toxic than a ‘victim’ mindset”, really rings true. So many people have this “I am the victim here” mindset rather than taking full responsibility for their actions. Its always somebody else’s fault, right? Well, coaches and athletes alike need to aware that this very mindset can destroy individual progress as well as a positive team culture. Toxic is the best way to describe how the victim mindset works. Focus on accountability and work toward a positive culture created with integrity and respect.
